With the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wrapping up in Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel Avengers 4, the franchise is going to need some new blood to keep things fresh when it enters Phase Four. But what characters would be dream additions of longtime MCU scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely?

Well, to start with, Markus named a more underrated hero: Aaron Stack AKA Machine Man, an android created by comic book legend Jack Kirby. It seems unlikely that he’s going to make it to the movies anytime soon, but as the writer pointed out, you can never say never with the MCU.

“Literally, no one will ever do this — I say this, and then it’ll be announced — I think Machine Man is hilarious.”

Markus then moved on to a much more popular suggestion: nocturnal vigilante Moon Knight, real name Marc Spector. Marvel fans have been crying out for the character, often likened to the House of Ideas’ own version of DC’s Batman, to be brought into the MCU for years, either on the big screen or on Netflix. The Infinity War scribe is also a fan, though he thinks the character has to be handled carefully.

“I like Moon Knight, but you have to handle Moon Knight in a very careful way, or he just becomes negative image Batman. But there are certain runs in the comics where you go, ‘That’s crazy.'”

McFeely then put forward his own pick: Namor the Sub-Mariner. The King of Atlantis, but not the one who’s Aquaman, Namor is one of Marvel’s oldest heroes, dating back to when the company was still called Timely Comics back in the 1940s. He’s another one that fans would like to see in the MCU but, unfortunately, rights issues have prevented this from happening so far.

“I’d love to see Namor.  I don’t think they even have the rights to him. But that’s a guy with a big upside, I think.”

Of the three that the screenwriters have chosen, the one most likely to make it to the MCU first has to be Moon Knight. We know this thanks to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently revealing that he’s one of many characters that he and his team are currently considering for inclusion in Phase Four. That said, Feige has also teased that there might be a way figure out the situation with Namor, as well.
