‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ writer shuts down hopes of some fan favorites joining the team

'Avengers' is in the title for a reason, it seems.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga may have slipped up in a big way after putting its worst foot forward with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but that’s certainly not enough to deter Marvel’s most dedicated fans from quaking with excitement for the near future, especially with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty – which is effectively the Multiverse Saga’s answer to Avengers: Infinity War – on the horizon.

The Kang Dynasty, like more or less every MCU property (including those that haven’t been announced yet, somehow), has, of course, been subject to dizzying amounts of theory-crafting, with the fanbase’s more imaginative crowd continuing to pull out just about every possibility for the film and slapping it down on the table.

Jeff Loveness, The Kang Dynasty scribe who most recently had his Quantumania script’s ending butchered by Marvel Studios no doubt, has come to clean up the table a bit. In an interview with ComicBook, Loveness came clean on whether or not the long-awaited Fantastic Four and X-Men could show up in the film, and it sounds like it’s not in the cards.

“No, I think all that stuff is pretty far away. I know they’re making Fantastic Four, but that’s its own thing. I mean, look, I’m the biggest X-Men guy in the world. No, I think that’s being saved for a bit. But, these Avengers are in trouble. They got a lot going on with Kang. They got more than enough to handle.”

One may think this is heartbreaking news, but to the most elite theory-crafter, it’s an asset of the highest degree; with the Four and the X-Men ruled out, the possibilities of what will transpire during The Kang Dynasty has been narrowed down quite a bit, giving them that much more confidence in mining out the most likely truth.

Of course, with the film slated for a theatrical release of May 2, 2025, we’ve still got quite a bit of time before we learn the actual truth, which we suppose is all the better for those who are happy living in whatever headcanon they’ve dreamed up so far.
