Banner Image Officially Reveals Ant-Man Supervillain Yellowjacket

Though we’ve already caught a glimpse of Yellowjacket thanks to an untimely leak, Comic Book Movie has today revealed the first official look at the Ant-Man supervillain via a banner image for the film.

It’s the best look at the character design to date, and one that aligns with what we’ve previously seen. For the uninitiated, Yellowjacket is the alter-ego of one Darren Cross — played here by House of Cards‘ star Corey Stoll — a former ally to Hank Pym who acquires control of the company, and subsequently the shape-shifting tech, after the two have a falling out.

In terms of the suit itself, the design is brilliantly realized — part menacing, part downright cool. And given the prominent role that Cross is set to play in Peyton Reed’s superhero flick, you can safely bet that Stoll’s antagonist will feature heavily in the first trailer for the film, which will surely make its way online sooner rather than later.

Ant-Man will look to conclude Marvel’s Phase Two in style when it scurries into theaters on July 17, 2015. In the meantime, check out the promo image in the gallery and let us know what you make of the character design in the comments section below.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in
scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
