Batman reboot ‘The Brave and the Bold’ might have honed in on a director but it still lacks one major thing

There is still work to be done before 'Batman: The Brave and the Bold' can begin production.

James Gunn’s upcoming DC movie, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, received a major production update by having its eyes locked on a potential director. However, there was still so much work to be done before this DC blockbuster enters production.

At the moment, DC Studios reportedly has its eyes on The Flash‘s Andy Muschietti to take on the director’s seat once more for the upcoming film, so he may still have a future in Gunn’s DCU. However, The Hollywood Reporter stated that nothing has been locked in yet, nor does the film have a script in place due to the ongoing writers’ strike.

What’s interesting about DC’s top contender for directing the next Batman DCU movie is how The Flash is being marketed. The Hollywood Reporter noticed that the upcoming DC superhero film isn’t promoting much of Barry Allen, but focuses more on Batman. While we do see snippets of Flash using his powers and him being the star of the film, the second trailer starts with Michael Keaton‘s Batman. It even had Keaton say his iconic “Let’s get nuts” line from the 1989 film. So, perhaps this DC director may have the talent to help bring this Batman story to life.

At the moment, casting Batman: The Brave and The Bold has yet to start. But one thing’s for certain, Ben Affleck will not be in it. The actor confirmed multiple times that he would “absolutely not” take part in Gunn’s DCU. This means that DC has to find someone else to don the Batsuit. But without a ready script, don’t expect casting to begin anytime soon – or a solid commitment from Muschietti, for that matter. A release date for Batman: The Brave and the Bold has not yet been announced.
