Aquaman And Anti-Superman Protests Teased In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Set Report

Zack Snyder's highly anticipated Man of Steel follow up, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Michigan, and over the last week we've seen several set photos leak that show Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and more destruction in Metropolis. Whether or not that destruction happens in Batman V Superman, or is rubble left over from Zod's attack on the city in Man Of Steel is unknown, but a new set report from Batman On Film may just have the answers (and intriguing teases) we were looking for.

Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Man of Steel follow up, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Michigan, and over the last week we’ve seen several set photos leak that show Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and more destruction in Metropolis. Whether or not that destruction happens in Batman V Superman, or is rubble left over from Zod’s attack on the city in Man Of Steel is unknown, but a new set report from Batman On Film may just have the answers (and intriguing teases) we were looking for.

Reportedly, Affleck is on site as Bruce Wayne because of a new attack on Metropolis that leaves some destruction in its wake, including the Wayne Financial building. Bruce was apparently in the building when it was hit and is now on his feet saving lives left and right. Additionally, several businesses in the area have received notices stating that their owners should be wary of “smoke and fast moving cars,” which got many fans hopeful that we’d see some set pics of the cool new Batmobile in action. Apparently, that won’t be the case, as the chase will likely not feature the iconic super car.

Those little action details don’t hold a candle to these other two scoops, which hint at Aquaman’s appearance and an “anti-Superman” tone to the film. According to BOF’s sources, Aquaman will in fact be in BVS, but will have a “very small role,” which will likely introduce him to audiences and set him up for Justice League. Apparently, there have even been some film tests on a newly built water set, which will likely act as the location of Aquaman’s cameo. Whether or not Jason Momoa – who was recently spotted working out in Michigan with Gal Gadot – actually has a role or not was not disclosed, but at this point his involvement is all but officially confirmed.

The “anti-Superman” tone of this film is also incredibly interesting to me, because that means that the destruction that Superman helped cause in his battle with Zod will come back to haunt him in a big way. According to the report, there will even be people marching in protest against the super-powered Kryptonian, who likely scared quite a few Earthlings when he flew in to save the day and couldn’t help but knock over a few buildings. I have always been someone who adamantly defended Man of Steel‘s destructive battle scenes, mostly because of my hope that they would be touched upon in the sequel and open the door for a man like Lex Luthor to rally people against the Last Son of Krypton. If this new report is to be believed, that’s exactly what we’re going to get.

All in all, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justiceis shaping up to be a Superman film like we’ve never seen before. We recently heard from Badass Digest that we’ll even be getting an older Bruce Wayne, with 30 years of crime fighting and a dead Robin under his belt, so that and the inclusion of these anti-Superman protests should introduce us to new sides of these characters that have never been explored on film before.

We’ll keep you updated on Batman V Superman as production continues. In the meantime, check out the new leaked set photos below (via Comic Book Movie), and let us know your thoughts about this new set report in the comments section.
