As the dust slowly begins to flutter back towards the ground after the Millennium Falcon and Star Wars: The Force Awakens whizzed by, one of the biggest releases looming on the horizon in early 2016 is undoubtedly Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Ambitious, mythic and universe-building, the sheer importance of Dawn of Justice is enough to arrest our collective attention, but there’s more to the film than meets the eye. While speaking to Observ, Snyder spoke more about “the fun” of the DC civil war, and what makes the core trinity tick.

Consisting of the Caped Crusader (Ben Affleck), the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill) and Gal Gadot’s inimitable Amazonian Warrior, Wonder Woman, this threesome are very much anchoring the Dawn of Justice arc, and while the latest trailer revealed a little more than it should have, we’re excited to see the interplay between each superhero titan.

Indeed, it’s this strained chemistry between the trio that lends Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice its dramatic heft, with Snyder teasing the ways in which Bats, Supes and Wonder Woman attempt to figure one another out.

“I think the fun of the movie is that in the end it’s a drama. They have to figure out each other to fight each other. So it’s about what makes them tick and how that’s going to work out in a conflict.”

Warner Bros.’ DC Expanded Universe has been waiting in the wings for some time and soon, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will set the wheels in motion when it arrives on March 25, 2016. It’ll also star Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and cameos aplenty.
