“Today is a day for truth. The world needs to know what happened.” That’s the caption tethered to the latest promo image for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, depicting Henry Cavill’s solemn messiah figure as he faces the paparazzi on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building.
It’s a powerful still ripped straight from the comics, and is no doubt taken from the opening stages of the movie when Cavill’s shunned Man of Steel is left facing the consequences of his cataclysmic showdown with Michael Shannon’s Zod.
As we close in on the arrival of Dawn of Justice – barely a month at the time of writing – DC fans have found themselves awash with news relating to Zack Snyder’s tentpole. Perhaps the more intriguing (surprising?) of the bunch is the fact that Warner Bros. will release an R-rated version of the film when the time comes for a Blu-Ray launch. But just what could those R-rated scenes entail?
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is on course to jump-start the DC Extended Universe on March 25. In related news, filming on Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be snapping at the heels of the superhero showdown, considering the ensemble piece is due to step before the cameras on April 11.
