Just yesterday, we brought you several new images from Cloud Atlas, the upcoming film from the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer. From what we saw, the film looked to be rather epic and quite stunning. As it turns out, those images were an accurate representation of the final project.

Today, the first trailer for the film has made its way online, and at nearly six minutes in length, it gives you quite a good look at just how epic the film is going to be. The trailer switches back and forth between the multiple storylines and the many characters involved, weaving what looks to be a fascinating tapestry of people and places. As mentioned before, several members of the cast will be playing different characters throughout the several centuries that the film covers, something we get to see a bit of in the trailer.

Just in case you missed it, the official synopsis reads as follows:

The powerful, inspiring epic Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.

The images that premiered earlier today already had me quite interested but after this trailer, the film is easily on my list of most anticipated movies for the remainder of 2012. But enough from me, I’ll let the trailer speak for itself.

Check it out and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

As a reminder, Cloud Atlas will premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival in September and opens everywhere else on October 26th.
