Ben Affleck In “Full-On” Research Mode For The Batman, Touches On Anna Kendrick Casting Rumors

Chatting to IGN, Ben Affleck has revealed that he is in "full-on" research mode in preparation for The Batman solo movie.

When The Accountant first entered production, Gavin O’Connor’s crime caper was considered a welcome tonic for Ben Affleck coming off the back of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. But as time wore on, The Batman solo movie gathered pace, not only casting J.K. Simmons in the role of Commissioner Gordon, but also igniting rumors that Pitch Perfect stalwart Anna Kendrick could be in line to play Robin.

Incidentally, both Kendrick and Simmons co-starred in The Accountant, which has led to a flurry of press junkets wherein Ben Affleck solicits questions and queries relating to his much-anticipated solo outing. The latest of which was conducted by IGN (via CBM), and it features Affleck painting in broad strokes about The Batman, working with Simmons and the possibility that Kendrick could join him by his side as Barbara Gordon. You can find the full video up above, in which the Oscar-winner jokes that he’ll consider Kendrick only if he is able to cameo in Pitch Perfect 3.

On a more serious note, it seems that Ben Affleck is in “full-on” research mode to prepare for the spinoff:

“Last night I spent (time) working on the script. I’m in full-on ‘trying to get it right mode’. It’s not the kind of movie that you can fail quietly at. You have to really be sure that I have something that I feel really confident about before we go forward.”

The Batman is currently without a release date, though we do know Ben Affleck will next don the cape and cowl for Justice League late next year. There’s also bootlegging drama Live By Night to look forward to. Anna Kendrick, meanwhile, will be part of the Barden Bellas reunion when Pitch Perfect 3 graces theaters on December 22, 2017.
