Ahead of last year’s Comic-Con, Deadline revealed that Ben Affleck is writing The Batman with comic book scribe Geoff Johns. Fans waited on tenterhooks for that to be announced during the event, but we’ve still heard nothing official about Warner Bros.’ plans for the Caped Crusader’s next solo outing.

Affleck has spent the past year dodging questions about The Batman, but in the video above, he all but confirms that he’s writing it along with Johns.

“Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy. I consider him to be the most valued resource on all things comic book. And every time I like something in a comic I mention, he goes, ‘Oh yeah, I wrote that.’ Now I just think he’s bullsh*tting me, because he says he wrote everything. He and I are working together on something and I really am excited about it and I love him. He’s the best.”

For those of you who don’t read comic books, Johns has penned critically acclaimed runs on titles like Justice League, Green Lantern and Batman: Earth One. He’s also written some of the best episodes of TV shows like Smallville and The Flash, so he definitely has writing experience in the realm of superhero adaptations.

Affleck and Johns are something of a dream team, especially with the former in the director’s chair. While Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn’t exactly received the response Warner Bros. wanted, it’s hard to imagine them not moving forward with The Batman. At least, unless this latest effort completely flops at the box office, though we can’t really see that happening.
