Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara has described the new version of Batman during the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference. According to Tsujihara, Ben Affleck’s character in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman project will be:

‘’[…] tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile. …We think it’s going to be huge.’’

This comes as surprising news since shortly before Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel was released, screenwriter David S. Goyer said that it was likely that the Batman of their new universe was probably just getting started and that he would even possibly be inspired by Superman to put on the cape.

Here was Goyer’s exact quote:

“We’re implying there are other superheroes in this world. But I don’t know that they’ve come forward yet. The idea is that Superman is the first one. There might be people helping people, but not in costumes, and that Superman comes forward and announces himself to the world. In him announcing himself, he’s the one that changes things.”

That being said, with a 41-year-old actor, as Ben Affleck is, it was obvious that the movie would not be introducing a fresh-faced version of the Caped Crusader.

Henry Cavill will, meanwhile, reprise his role as Superman alongside co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The new film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing.

Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
