Benedict Cumberbatch Will Climb Blood Mountain

Benedict Cumberbatch has just signed on for a new project today in the form of Blood Mountain, a thriller which Sergei Bodrov (Mongol) will direct. The film, which was written by Jonathan W. Stokes, will follow a private military contractor who is tasked with escorting a dangerous terrorist through “hostile terrain in order to bring him to justice.”

Unfortunately, there’s no confirmation on who Cumberbatch will play but personally, I’d love to see him as the terrorist in this one. I really enjoyed his performance as the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness as well as in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (his voice work was fantastic). As good as he is in things like Sherlock, I’m eager to see him go to the dark side again and play the antagonist.

With principal photography set to get underway this April in Morocco, we should be hearing more on Blood Mountain very soon. Now that Cumberbatch has signed on to star, I imagine that the rest of the roles will be cast pretty quickly. When we hear more we’ll be sure to let you know.

For now though, tell us, does Blood Mountain sound appealing to you? Are you happy to see Cumberbatch signing on? Who do you want to see co-star? Let us know in the comments section below.
