I seriously don’t even know how this man has time to eat or sleep anymore. It seems that every week we hear about Benedict Cumberbatch joining a new project. He’s one of Hollywood’s most in demand actors right now and his plate is becoming increasingly busy.

The newest film that the actor is circling Everest, Doug Liman’s adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s Paths of Glory, which tells the true story of the first person to ever climb Mount Everest. Previously, Tom Hardy was set to take the lead but due to scheduling issues, he’s had to drop out and now, Benedict Cumberbatch is being looked at to replace him in the role of George Mallory.

If you thought that news was chilling (pun intended), get this: several very high profile actors are in the mix to co-star with Cumberbatch as well. James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, Joel Kinnaman, Henry Cavill, Luke Evans and several others are all being considered to play George Finch. Of course, most of those names are probably just wish-list material but still, it’s interesting to see what type of actor the studio is going for.

Now, this project is being set up at Sony, but of course, there’s also a competing Everest film being housed at Universal. That film is set to be helmed by Baltasar Kormakur and has a pretty stellar line-up, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jason Clarke. Luckily, the film will tell a different Everest story, that of a 1996 expedition where several explorers died.

So, it looks like there will be more than enough of Mount Everest to go around, and it certainly seems that every A-lister out there wants a piece of the famed mountain. Both projects sound great and currently, they’re both titled Everest, how awesome is that? Unfortunately, that will likely change as things progress but for now, tell us, which Mount Everest film sounds better to you: Everest or Everest?
