Warner’s Birds Of Prey Spinoff Won’t Include Catwoman After All

Industry sleuth Umberto Gonzalez is reporting that Warner's Birds of Prey movie won't carve out a role for Catwoman, after all.

Batgirl and Harley Quinn are reportedly the two anchor points of Warner’s Birds of Prey, but there’s no room for Selina Kyle.

Or so says industry sleuth Umberto Gonzalez, who took to Twitter earlier today to clarify two things: one, Spectre actress Léa Seydoux is not testing for Black Canary or Catwoman, and the latter character isn’t expected to feature in the DC spinoff movie whatsoever.

This effectively shuts down those claims from 4chan that Seydoux, a prominent French actress who was once linked to Gambit over at Fox, had met with Warner Bros. about a possible role in Birds of Prey, which has already locked down Margot Robbie as the Clown Princess of Crime.

Coming hot off her scenery-chewing performance as Suicide Squad‘s one true wild card, Robbie has cemented her place among the DC Extended Universe, and is expected to feature across the likes of Gotham City Sirens and the planned Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff over the coming years.

And for those who got their hopes up about Margot Robbie and Léa Seydoux potentially sharing the screen for Birds of Prey, we have some bad news…

Via Twitter:

No, that dumb 4chan rumor is so not true. Léa Seydoux is not in early talks nor on some shortlist for either BLACK CANARY or CATWOMAN in BIRDS OF PREY. In fact, CATWOMAN is NOT even in the movie!

Short and sweet, then. Truth be told, unless an announcement is made through Warner Bros., every DC-related rumor ought to be treated with heightened caution, as nascent projects like Gotham City Sirens, Suicide Squad 2 and Birds of Prey are still gestating in the formative stages of development.
