First Look At Mary Elizabeth Winstead As Huntress In Birds Of Prey Revealed

When a Birds of Prey movie was initially announced, one thing in particular that made me excited for such a project was seeing Huntress for the first time on the silver screen. In short, I've come to like this heroine who toes a moral grey line over the years, not to mention her familiar purple and black attire. Maybe it's just me, but I think such threads would look especially cool when adapted to live action.

When a Birds of Prey movie was initially announced, one thing in particular that made me excited for such a project was seeing Huntress for the first time on the silver screen. In short, I’ve come to like this heroine who toes a moral grey line over the years, not to mention her familiar purple and black attire. Maybe it’s just me, but I think such threads would look especially cool when adapted to live action.

That said, you could imagine my surprise upon seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead suiting up in something much different than expected in the first teaser trailer released this morning. Of course, we can’t rule out the possibility of her gear evolving throughout the course of the flick, but my gut says this’ll stick.

So, if you had trouble focusing on her because everything went by so quickly in the aforementioned teaser, then you’ll probably appreciate the screenshots we’ve assembled in the gallery below. There, you’ll be able to savor several of the first images showing off Ms. Winstead as Huntress.

Don’t get me wrong, my indifference to this costume reveal shouldn’t be construed as negative. After all, it’s the performance that really matters, and I’m quite pleased with the actress assigned to the role. Actually, Arrow‘s costuming department experienced a rare fumble when crafting its version of the character in season 1, so this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something that doesn’t exactly reflect the source material.

Aside from this femme fatale, know that first looks at Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina) are also making their respective rounds. As always, it’s recommended that you keep watching this space because much more is sure to be revealed before Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) opens in theaters on February 7th, 2020.
