Birds Of Prey Will See Harley Quinn Rocking A New Outfit

For all of its faults - and there are many - 2016's Suicide Squad (with more than a little help from an awesome Margot Robbie) nailed the character of Harley Quinn, so her re-appearance in the DCEU was a real no-brainer. For all of its faults – and there are many – 2016’s Suicide Squad (with more than a little help from an awesome Margot Robbie) nailed the character of Harley Quinn, so her re-appearance in the DCEU was a real no-brainer. As such, Birds of Prey, her next outing, is arguably the most anticipated upcoming movie in DC’s arsenal. And for a special occasion such as that, it’s worth investing in a new outfit, right?

The former Harleen Quinzel’s iconic ‘Daddy’s Lil’ Monster’ tee and fishnet stockings have become hugely popular and instantly recognizable, flooding cosplay groups and Comic-Con floors around the world. But speaking to Yahoo recently, Robbie dropped some news that will delight and terrify cosplayers in equal measure:

“No, honestly [it’s] because the costumes haven’t been designed yet but yes she’ll have new looks.”

In keeping with the DCEU’s gritty aesthetic, it’s unlikely to be Harley Quinn’s err…Harlequin costume that makes an appearance as that seems a little too comical even for a comic book movie. The outfit’s appearance in Suicide Squad was fleeting and dreamlike, awkwardly jarring with what we’d already learned about the character. Let’s hope they still keep the black, red and white theme going, though.

Where DC could really pip Marvel to the post – for once – is with the all-female group of characters set to feature here, which traditionally includes Black Canary, Batgirl and Huntress, this time with Harley Quinn added to their ranks. There are rumors abound that Batgirl’s appearance in the pic will preempt even her own movie, too, so fingers crossed that Birds of Prey lays some strong foundations, much like a nest, for the future of the DC Extended Universe.
