Black Panther’s “Kinetic” Action Scenes Dubbed A Potent Blend Of Creed And Kingsman

Ryan Coogler's Black Panther spinoff will blend the kinetic action of Creed and Kingsman, according to a new piece from The Root.

Aside from the fact that Marvel’s Black Panther spinoff is the final MCU flick to precede the all-encompassing Avengers: Infinity War, the Ryan Coogler-directed origin movie is about to become the studio’s first big-budget blockbuster to be anchored by a black superhero.

That responsibility has been thrust on the burly shoulders of Chadwick Boseman, who made his Marvel debut via Captain America: Civil War back in 2016. Indeed, Joe and Anthony Russo’s super-sized ensemble movie helped lay the groundwork for Black Panther in that King T’Chaka of Wakanda, father to the young T’Challa (Boseman), was killed off during the opening portion of Civil War.

His death sent shockwaves all the way to the fictional African nation of Wakanda. Considered the rightful heir by the late T’Chaka, Chadwick Boseman’s title lead assumes the throne, but there are those who believe the young, wet-behind-the-ears T’Challa is unfit to rule. Cue the fiery power struggle.

When it comes to the actual style of Black Panther, though, we’re now learning that director Ryan Coogler and his team have concocted “kinetic” action scenes that are best described as a mix between Creed and Kingsman.

At least, that’s according to The Root (via MCU News & Tweets), which Tweeted that “the action is kinetic, like a mixture of Coogler’s fight scenes from Creed and the manic bullet ballets from the Kingsman movies.” Where do we sign up?

Indeed, those of you who have already caught Black Panther‘s scintillating teaser trailer will likely agree with The Root’s appraisal, but does that mean we can expect some mesmerizing long-takes and other quirky camera techniques come 2018? We’ll find out soon enough.

Beyond the release of Thor: Ragnarok in November, Coogler’s Black Panther movie will be next to tumble off Marvel’s production line on February 16th, 2018.
