The cast of Marvel’s Black Panther continues to expand, with several more names joining the film today. First up we have Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker, who’s been cast as an “elder statesman in Wakanda” named Zuri. Aside from him, we also have Daniel Kaluuya as T’Challa’s friend W’Kabi, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo, a “member of the Dora Milaje” who had a minor part in Civil War.

This casting news comes hot on the heels of Winston Duke being added to the roster as well, in the villainous role of M’Baku. Together, the newcomers will join Chadwick Boseman in the lead role as the titular hero, where he’ll be flanked by an impressive supporting cast made up of Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o.

While we’re not too familiar with most of the new names here, we are happy to see that Whitaker is on board. Coming off roles in Arrival and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he’s hotter than ever right now and will no doubt lend a sense of gravitas to the film.

Behind the camera for the “dark and gritty” Marvel effort is Ryan Coogler, who will bring us Black Panther on February 16th, 2018. As the movie inches closer to production, which is set to begin early next year, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any further casting updates that might arise.
