Director Michael Bay failed to impress fans with the last film, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, but it seems that he has acknowledged his mistakes and is promising to turn things around for the third and final outing. We’ve seen a teaser trailer and Super Bowl spot already but now we’re getting a good look at the story and characters.

The film actually looks quite promising. A lot of it is what you’d expect from a Bay film (epic action scenes, lots of explosions, tons of effects etc) but it does look exciting. I think the biggest problem with the last film was the plot, which was ridiculous and didn’t make much sense. Hopefully that’s changed for this one. I guess we’ll see when the film hits on July 1st.

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
