Is Bruce Willis Joining G.I. Joe 2?

Why Bruce, why? Talk about a fall from grace. The once legendary action star Bruce Willis, is currently in negotiations to star in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. Heat Vision reports that Willis will play General Joe Colton, "the man who created the original team and earned the title name G.I. Joe." If negotiations go through, the actor will join returning cast members Channing Tatum and Ray Park as well as new cast members such as Ray Stevenson, Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, among others.

Why Bruce, why? The once legendary action star Bruce Willis, is currently in negotiations to star in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. Heat Vision reports that Willis will play General Joe Colton, “the man who created the original team and earned the title name G.I. Joe.” If negotiations go through, the actor will join returning cast members Channing Tatum and Ray Park as well as new cast members such as Ray Stevenson, Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, among others.

Director Jon Chu is promising fans a more intense and gritty G.I. Joe film with the sequel but still, I can’t say I’m excited for the June 29th, 2012 release date. G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra was alright but nothing special, I definitely don’t need a sequel. Plus, a lot of the original cast members won’t be returning. Actors like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sienna Miller and Dennis Quaid will be noticeably absent this time around.

As for Willis, well he’s not exactly on the up and up. Red, Cop Out and Surrogates are just some of the garbage that litter his recent films list. He’s certainley seen better days and his involvement with G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation sounds to me like a bit of a paycheque role. But then again, it’s not like the guy needs money, I mean, he’s John ‘freakin’ McClane, there’s no way he’s short on cash.

So why would Willis join a film that is likely going to suffer the same fate as its predecessor? Who knows but feel free to speculate in the comments below.
