Bryan Cranston is up for a ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ movie, on one condition

Cranston's got plenty of work going on as is, but he'd be more than happy to revisit Hal.

Before Bryan Cranston became one of the most celebrated actors in the history of television for his portrayal of Walter White in the critically acclaimed narcotics drama Breaking Bad, he brought life to the goofy Hal, father of the Malcolm in the Middle family.

While Cranston has since moved on to bigger and better things, the Your Honor star is absolutely open to returning to his earlier days in a Malcolm in the Middle film, so long as the script he is presented with is a good idea.

Speaking with The Independent, Cranston divulged that he has been in conversation with Malcolm in the Middle’s creator, Linwood Boomer, who has assembled his writing staff to see if they can come up with a movie based on the Fox comedy series that ended its run in 2006:

“He said he would think about it, and he got his writers together. If they can come up with a great idea, a legitimate idea, then he’ll pursue it. But if not, then nah. “I don’t need a job. I’ve got plenty of jobs. I don’t need it, but I’d want it if it was a great idea.”

We’d love nothing more than to see the dysfunctional television reunited with the kids all grown up, with Hal and Lois perhaps taking on the role of grandparents to Malcolm, Francis, Reese, and Dewey’s own rugrats. Here’s hoping that Boomer can come up with a solid idea to get Cranston and the rest of the cast on board.

As far as Cranston on Breaking Bad goes, the actor recently reminisced about a time he and Aaron Paul got high on their own character’s supply, proverbially speaking.
