There are two things in our popular cultural landscape that are all about family: BTS and the Fast & Furious franchise. The news that the two have come together in the form of a song for the soundtrack of the series’ 10th installment, aptly titled Fast X, has ARMYs racing out of the traps. The single “Angel Pt.1” will feature Jimin of BTS, along with Kodan Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE, and Muni Long.

Immediately, the phrases “OMG WHAT” and “JIMIN IS COMING” started trending on Twitter as fans reacted to the bombshell, ecstatic to be getting new music from one of their favorite artists.

Ever since announcing their break from releasing music as a group in the summer of 2022, the different members of BTS have been releasing solo projects as well as featuring in different songs as individuals instead of under the BTS banner. Recently, Jimin released his first-ever solo album, titled FACE, which charted at number two on the Billboard 200, and whose single “Like Crazy” reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Previously, another song by Jimin, along with fellow BTS member V, called “Friends” was featured in a film from an equally popular franchise – the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals. “Angel Pt. 1,” however, has fans understandably freaking out, given the fact that the main songs from the Fast Saga always attract major attention and are played heavily on the radio. As the last promotional single for the very last Fast film, this major collab is bound to become a big deal.

Fans of both BTS and the Fast films can listen to the song May 18, which is also when Fast X will start hitting theaters across the world. The official U.S. release date for the fam’s final outing is May 19. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron all return.
