Orlando, Florida is currently playing host to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel, and we have some new set photos from Rian Johnson’s sci-fi sequel to prove it.

Coming to us by way of io9, the wonderfully diverse collection of pictures is designed to take you behind the scenes, where we see Johnson enjoying some candid moments with the late, great Carrie Fisher. Those who have followed the filmmaker’s work through Breaking Bad and Looper will know that Rian Johnson tends to keep his personal camera handy at all times, and the result is a treasure trove of Star Wars goodies. Bear in mind that these are screenshots pulled from this morning’s presentation – one which finally heralded the launch of The Last Jedi‘s scintillating first trailer – so they’re not the best of quality; still, when pulled together, Johnson’s gallery of BTS pics serves as a welcome peek behind the curtain of what is surely one of, if not the most-anticipated movies of 2017.

And that anticipation reached boiling point earlier today, when Rian Johnson brought an end to months of heated speculation by unveiling the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (see below). It’s a decidedly darker promo than that for The Force Awakens in 2015, with the remnants of the Resistance continuing to scrap with the First Order. This, coupled with Luke’s somber line “it’s time for the Jedi to end,” leads us to believe that we’re in for quite the spectacle later this year.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be with us on December 15th. Following in the footsteps of The Force Awakens and Rogue One, Disney’s rebooted universe also has room for Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX and an origin story revolving around the great Han Solo. Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are behind the lens for that one, which is now shooting in anticipation of a May 2018 release.
