‘Captain America: Brave New World’ star addresses concerns he’s planning to go full Dwayne Johnson

It can't be taken off the table, that's for sure.

It’s become a rite of passage for any professional wrestler with eyes on conquering Hollywood to appear in a superhero movie, and Seth Rollins will become the latest to make that leap when he swings by Captain America: Brave New World next year.

Of course, a grappler showing up in a comic book adaptation is no guarantee of success, with Dave Bautista’s massively popular and incredibly lucrative stint as Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the the Galaxy and Avengers franchises being counteracted by Dwayne Johnson’s one-and-done Black Adam, leaving John Cena somewhere in the middle after The Suicide Squad tanked at the box office prior to Peacemaker finding widespread acclaim.

When quizzed on his upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe debut by The Daily Mail, Rollins addressed concerns that he’s already got one eye on a silver screen career once his days in the squared circle begin winding down, but he remains focused only on the present.

“I am sworn to a certain level of secrecy, so I can’t divulge too much information on that. What I will say in response to your question is that it is cool, it’s cool to get opportunities to do something outside of your comfort zone. This is what I love, WWE, professional wrestling, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and all I ever intend to do as a career for as long as I can, but anytime you get to a certain level in this industry there’s going to be opportunities that come your way and I love taking chances at this point in my career.

As for me, I don’t know where my future lies. I feel, like I said, at this moment wrestling is my future for as long as I can do it at a high level. But there’s going to come a day when falling down is going to turn my bones to dust and I will have to start looking elsewhere and seeing what other options there are. I don’t think that’s coming any time soon and I’m just in the prime of my career right now and there’s a lot of years ahead of me.”

Based on the set photos we’ve seen so far, it looks unlikely that Rollins plays much more than a secondary antagonist in Brave New World, but we’ve seen his peers get bitten by the acting bug before, so who knows what twists and turns his path may take in the future if his MCU debut is well-received.
