Captain Marvel Director Can’t Wait To See Carol Fight Thanos In Avengers: Endgame

Marvel Studios has been notoriously stingy with the plot details of Avengers: Endgame, and this goes for the information they share with both the general public and their own cast and crew. But while Captain Marvel co-director Ryan Fleck may not be entirely clued in himself on the events of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, he’s at least curious to see where Carol Danvers’ story goes from here.

Speaking to AMC Theaters, the filmmaker discussed the journey of self-discovery taken by Captain Marvel in her solo debut, before adding that he can’t wait to see her unleash her phenomenal abilities on a certain Mad Titan:

“At the beginning of our movie, she doesn’t know how powerful she is. But by the end, you’ll see that, uh… let’s just say this, I’m very excited to see what she does to Thanos in Endgame.”

As it stands, we’ve yet to see any footage of Carol in Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film, but the post-credits tease of Infinity War made it very clear that the character will be of crucial importance to the events of the movie. And while Captain Marvel’s beef with Thanos may or may not be as personal as the grudges born by the various Phase 1 Avengers who saw their friends and colleagues disintegrate before their eyes, you can imagine that the sight of Carol landing a few blows on the tyrant will initiate cheers from the audience all the same.

Of course, it’s yet to be confirmed what Thanos’ role will actually be in Endgame, and various leaks teasing “an even greater threat” have led to some speculation that the Titan may not be the main villain this time round. Nonetheless, given all the trouble caused by the character, you can expect Thanos to reap what he sows when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th. But first, both we and Carol are set to find out how powerful she is when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th.
