Captain Marvel EP Teases A Carol And Valkyrie Relationship For The Sequel

The reaction to Captain Marvel has largely been positive. Save for a few trolls who seem dead set on expressing their hatred for the studio's first female superhero movie, most MCU fans were generally pleased with how Carol Danvers' origin story panned out. While she didn't get a ton of screentime in Avengers: Endgame, it looks like the House of Mouse still has big plans for her moving forward. Aside from an all-but-confirmed sequel, it seems Captain Marvel herself will be leading the New Avengers at some point in Phase 4/5, and while fans appear to be happy with this decision, they're still desperately hoping for an entirely different kind of announcement.

The studio has yet to officially address Danvers’ sexuality, but the internet’s convinced that Captain Marvel is going to be the MCU’s first openly gay hero, and there’s been plenty of speculation as to who will be on her radar. For the past few months, fans have enjoyed “shipping” her with Valkyrie, and it looks like Marvel has paid attention.

As reported by ComicBook.com, producer Mary Livanos and writer Kelly Sue DeConnick recently shed some light on any potential relationships. While the two didn’t confirm anything outright, they have provided a glimmer of hope for a handful of passionate fans.

“And then, of course, there’s the Brie Tessa Thompson love going on online which is fun to see,” Livanos said. “It’s so charming and so fun to see the actor’s themselves get excited about the potential mashup, So that as a creative makes you start thinking…”

This is good news for those who’ve been pushing for a relationship between Danvers and Valkyrie, though it does beg one important question: how will these two meet up in future movies? Right now, it seems as if Captain Marvel is balancing her time between Earth and others who need saving, and Valkyrie is busy heading up New Asgard.

Personally, we wouldn’t mind if the two met up in a future standalone film, but we’re curious to know your thoughts. Would you like to see an all-female movie? Or do you think Valkyrie should get her own spinoff? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below.
