Will Doctor Strange Have A Cameo In Captain Marvel?

By now, much of the Marvel fandom is practically taking it as fact that Avengers: Endgame will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes travel back in time, but according to a new fan theory that emerged on Reddit, one character in Avengers: Infinity War may have already done just that, laying the groundwork for a post-credits cameo in Captain Marvel.

Like countless Infinity War theories that have come before it, this new piece of speculation from Reddit user Woot_wooten concerns the scene where Doctor Strange envisions 14,000,605 alternate futures, only one of which sees the team triumph. The theory alleges that not only does Strange see into the future, but he also journeys briefly into the past, specifically to the ‘90s where he informs Carol Danvers and Nick Fury of the disaster that will befall the universe two decades later.

It’s reasoned that this would explain why Fury knew to save his Captain Marvel distress call for when the Decimation happened, while also serving as an interesting way of bringing Carol into Endgame after the events of her solo movie.

All in all, it’s a nice idea, though not without its potential issues. For one thing, between Samuel L. Jackson’s claim that Captain Marvel is capable of time travel, and the increasingly popular prediction that Iron Man, Ant-Man and the rest of the surviving heroes will also discover a way of venturing into the past, you have to wonder just how many different methods of time travel Endgame can feature before it all gets a bit silly.

To elaborate, if the gang really does find a means of journeying into the past, then you can expect the Infinity War sequel to make a pretty huge deal out of this revelation. The impact of their discovery, however, would be seriously deflated if it also turned out that Doctor Strange casually jumped back two decades as he was sitting around on Titan and just didn’t bother telling any of his peers. Regardless, we’ll find out if Captain Marvel has such a cameo lined up when the film hits theaters on March 8th, 2019, before we learn what Strange was really planning when Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26th.
