Captain Marvel’s Post-Credits Scenes May Tease Avengers: Endgame And Eternals

20 MCU movies in and we're pretty used to waiting through the long credits for our pair of extra scenes that'll either put a button on what we've just watched or will set up the next installment in the never-ending franchise. As such, there's always a lot of theorizing about what the post-credits scenes of any given film will feature and a new rumor might just tell us what the end credits of Captain Marvel will bring us.

A large batch of rumors concerning the next few years of the MCU has surfaced on 4Chan this week and amongst the claims is one concerning Brie Larson’s Marvel debut as Carol Danvers. The post states that Captain Marvel‘s first post-credits scene will set up Avengers: Endgame while the second will sow the seeds for Eternals.

Of course, we advise taking this with a pinch of salt given the source, but the idea that at least one of CM‘s credits sequences will tie into Endgame is a pretty safe one as, not only is it the next MCU movie to release after Captain Marvel, but it’s also going to feature Larson as well. It would be neat, for instance, if the scene featured Carol responding to the S.O.S. Nick Fury sent her at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, prefacing her return to Earth to help out the surviving heroes in Endgame.

That the second scene will foreshadow Eternals is a little more out there, however. For one, it’s uncommon for an MCU movie to have two credits sequences that set up future movies. As said above, the usual practice is for one to do that and the other to call back to the film we’ve just watched. That said, Marvel’s switched up this tactic before – see: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s five credits scenes – so who knows?

There’s also the fact that Eternals isn’t expected to land for a few years yet, making this tease a little premature. Though it does line up with other rumors that claim the MCU is about to split into two distinct strands: cosmic movies and Earth-bound ones.

In any case, all will be revealed soon as Captain Marvel flies into cinemas on March 8th.
