The Identity Of Carol’s Mother In Captain Marvel Has Been Revealed

With Captain Marvel less than three weeks away from reaching cinemas, the internet has by now seen a copious amount of material from Carol Danvers’ MCU debut, but nonetheless, there remain a fair few mysteries around the Brie Larson-led flick. One detail that Marvel Studios has yet to share, for instance, is the exact identity of Annette Bening’s unnamed character, but while it’s been a popular prediction for some time now that the 20th Century Women star plays the Supreme Intelligence, a source close to WGTC claims that the actress has also taken on a significant second role (spoilers lie ahead).

Not only have we been told that Bening is indeed playing the leader of the Kree race, but on top of that, she reportedly assumes the role of Carol’s mother. To elaborate, it’s said that the Supreme Intelligence takes on a different form depending on who’s looking at them by drawing on an image in the person’s mind. In the case of the amnesia-stricken Captain Marvel, that person’s the mother that she can no longer consciously remember. What’s more, it’s said that Carol’s mother is actually a Kree, which seems very much in line with developments in the 2018 comic The Life of Captain Marvel.

Of course, Bening isn’t the only Captain Marvel cast member whose character has yet to be officially confirmed. The part played by Jude Law, for instance, has been the subject of much rumor and debate, though in recent months, the fans seemed to have settled on the prediction that he’s assuming the role of Yon-Rogg.

But going back to Bening, if all we’re hearing is true, then it sounds like the identity of Carol’s mother will be one of the major revelations that the heroine will uncover as she attempts to piece together her mysterious past. And we’ll find out what other secrets her return to Earth yields when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.
