TMZ is telling us that Carrie Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, has passed away today at age 84, one day after her daughter died. According to reports, she’d been extremely distraught ever since Carrie’s death and was making funeral plans when she suffered a stroke and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital.

“She wanted to be with Carrie. She’s now with her and we’re all heartbroken,” her son Todd told Variety.

Like her daughter, Reynolds was also an accomplished Hollywood talent, having starred in films like Singin’ In The RainHow the West Was WonCharlotte’s Web and many more. She was an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Emmy and Tony Award-nominated actress, and had a very long and successful career, even being presented with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.

Born Mary Frances Reynolds on April 1, 1932, she eventually changed her name to Debbie upon entering showbiz, making her acting debut in 1948’s June Bride. From there, she would go on to rack up over 82 credits across television and film, firmly cementing herself as a true Hollywood legend.

It wasn’t only as an actress that she shined, though, as Reynolds was also an accomplished singer, scoring several Billboard hits, releasing a handful of albums and headlining some major venues back in the 50s and 60s. All in all, she was a tremendous talent and she will definitely be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to both Debbie and Carrie’s family and friends during this very difficult time.
