Casting Notes For Rise of The Apes and Captain America

Today The Playlist brings us some casting notes for two upcoming films, Rise of the Apes and Captain America. Andy Serkis has been cast as Ceaser in Rise of the Apes. He will play the ape who leads the revolt, similar to the Roddy McDowell role in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. As for Captain America, Dominic Cooper will play Howard Stark, Tony Stark aka Ironman’s father.

Both films are shaping up nicely. Captain America has a strong cast so far including Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Sebastian Stan and Stanley Tucci. Rise of the Apes also looks promising as Andy Serkis joins James Franco, John Lithgow and Freida Pinto.

Serkis, known best for his role as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings series, is a welcome addition to the cast of Rise of the Apes. The film, a prequel to the Planet of the Apes series, will tell the story of a group of scientists who begin experimenting on apes until everything goes wrong. Serkis’s character is one of the apes that is being experimented on.

Captain America will be another winner I’m sure as most superhero movies these days seem to do well (Iron Man, Batman, Spiderman (1 and 2 at least)) etc. It’ll be interesting to see what the film adds to the Marvel universe and which other heroes will have cameos in it.

Are you looking forward to either of these films?
