Bryan Singer is currently prepping Jack The Giant Killer, the film that held him back from directing X-Men: First Class. Being hailed as a ‘Jack and the Giant Beanstalk for adults’, screen tests are currently being held for the lead roles in the film. With screen tests currently going on, we now have the casting shortlist for the film, for both the male and female lead roles. Check them out below.

For the male lead role, the lucky men being considered are Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Nicholas Hoult (A Single Man), Aneurin Barnard (Ironclad) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd).

For the ladies, the list is as follows. Adelaide Kane (Power Rangers R.P.M.), Lily Collins (The Blind Side) and Juno Temple (Year One). Not a particularly strong list on the male or female side.

The only name that really stands out to me is Aaron Johnson, who was great in Kick-Ass. I think it’s safe to say that everyone else here is more or less unknown, which is fine, but perhaps Singer may want to include a bit more star power so he can better sell the film to audiences.

Being hailed as an adult version of the ‘Jack and the Giant Beanstalk’ tale doesn’t exactly draw me in but who knows, Singer has made some great films (The Usual Suspects, X-Men) so for now, I’ll trust him with this one.
