Channing Tatum Eyes Gambit Role X-Men

Here’s some surprising news. The Wrap is reporting tonight that Channing Tatum may be departing Gambit, a passion project that he’s been attached to, and has been working hard to get made, for what seems like forever now.

Details on what exactly is going on with the Ruper Wyatt-directed flick are pretty hazy, but apparently the actor’s deal is in “jeopardy of falling apart” and he’s planning to leave if things don’t get resolved quickly. If Tatum does drop out, Fox is still ready to go forward with the film, as Wyatt is still on board and they’re currently testing actresses for the female lead. They’ll just need to find a new leading man.

Gambit is currently set for an October 7th, 2016 release, which means that this needs to be taken care of in a timely manner if the film hopes to make its release date. It would certainly be a shame to see Tatum go, given that he’s extremely passionate about the character and has been attached to the role for years now, so we’re holding out hope that the two parties will be able to reach a suitable agreement.

We’ll keep you posted when we hear more, but for now, tell us, if Tatum drops out, who would you like to see replace him?
