With principal photography officially underway in Toronto, Warner Bros. decided to get a jump on the ballyhoo regarding IT: Chapter Two yesterday by releasing the first promotional pic for the Andy Muschietti-directed horror film, in which Sophia Lillis – who portrayed Beverly Marsh in Chapter One – handed over the proverbial red balloon to her adult counterpart, Jessica Chastain, who initially shared the image on Twitter.
Come to think of it, since production began last month, Chastain and her fellow cast members haven’t exactly shied away from leisurely social media activity. On the contrary, the two-time Academy Award nominee and her Golden Globe-nominated co-star, James McAvoy, each took to their respective Instagram accounts and informed their fellow losers that filming had indeed begun. Hell, even producer Barbara Muschietti – whose brother is none other than director Andy Muschietti – posted a behind the scenes look at her sibling in action.
Today, however, we’ve got something much more delectable than crudely captured candids for you to chew on, something even Pennywise himself would want to sink the totality of his teeth into – set photos!
These cunningly captured behind the scenes snapshots you’re looking at come to us via several Twitter users, and showcase Bill Hader – who’s playing the adult Richie Tozier – and the original Losers indulging in some cake. Jessica Chastain’s also spotted, sporting a very similar hairdo to that of her more youthful counterpart.
Scheduled for release on September 6th, 2019, IT: Chapter Two will pick-up twenty-seven years after Chapter One, where we’ll find the Losers club back in Derry and once again face to face with Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
