A clutch of new rumors concerning Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has come to light recently thanks to the folks over at Bleeding Cool. The main bulk of the site’s intel revolves around a huddle of superheroes expected to appear in Cap’s next adventure, along with a major blow to an MCU newbie.

According to the site’s sources, one character in Avengers: Age Of Ultron is earmarked for certain death and won’t be joining the team in Captain America: Civil War. If you wish to find out who, what, and why, then please continue to read on below the gallery. For those of you who wish to enter the theater pleasantly surprised, however, then turn away now.

You’ve been warned…

SPOILER ALERT!

Marvel’s major superhero sequel has made no point of masking its newest arrivals. In addition to the usual crew, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be putting in their first franchise appearance; but for one of them it will also be their last. Apparently, Quicksilver won’t make it through the events of Ultron. Or at least, that’s what Bleeding Cool’s report supposes. Their assumption is based on the existence of another piece of intel.

Captain America: Civil War has already been branded with the “Avengers 2.5” tag on account of its star-studded cast, mined from Marvel’s vast cinematic superhero world. Series’ headliners Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Black Panther are all confirmed to appear alongside this latest slew of characters: Hulk, Thor, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, and a fourteen year old Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man.

First off, the glaring omission is, of course, Quicksilver. But given that this information isn’t official, that might change. Or, it could simply be that he does in fact die. That aside, the rest of the characters mentioned in the list are not surprising. Hulk, Thor and War Machine have been casually linked to the movie and Spider-Man’s involvement has snagged more time in the spotlight than its titular man. So, that leaves Scarlet Witch and Wasp.

The former sounds like she will survive Ultron and pick a side for the Cap vs. Stark showdown, and that battle will now include Wasp. In the comics, Janet Van Dyne becomes Wasp, which has paved the way for a lot of speculation on whether or not Evangeline Lilly – who plays her daughter Hope in this summer’s Ant-Man – will pick up the mantle. However, it’s expected that even if she doesn’t make the leap, she’ll be joined in Ant-Man by none other than Falcon (Anthony Mackie).
