Charlie Hunnam Will Battle To Save Earth In Pacific Rim

Despite Pacific Rim’s relatively unoriginal and pretty ridiculous storyline, having Guillermo del Toro at the helm makes it slightly more appealing. From a script by Travis Beacham, the film is set in a futuristic world where giant creatures are threatening to destroy the Earth, one city at a time. Now, the planet must band together, using highly advanced weapons technology, to eliminate this growing threat.

Deadline is now exclusively reporting that Charlie Hunnam, best known for his role on the FX series Sons of Anarchy, is in negotiations to star in the upcoming film which is being produced by Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni of Legendary Pictures. Hunnam was also recently see in The Ledge, which received mediocre reviews at Sundance.

Del Toro will also produce the film with Callum Greene executive producing.
