The Collector And Thanos Share A Moment In Avengers: Infinity War BTS Pic

Avengers: Infinity War didn't just bring together the many heroes of the MCU, it also assembled what is arguably the most star-studded cast in cinema history. To break it down a little, you've got nine Oscar winners/nominees, eleven Golden Globe winners/nominees, seven of the Forbes magazine list of Top Paid Actors/Actresses of 2017 - and just more A-listers than you can shake a stick at. Due to the complexities of the shoot none of them were in the same place at the same time until the film's premiere, but it's always interesting to get a peek at what was going on on set.

To break it down a little, you’ve got nine Oscar winners/nominees, eleven Golden Globe winners/nominees, seven from Forbes’ list of Top Paid Actors/Actresses of 2017 and just more A-listers than you can shake a stick at. Due to the complexities of the shoot, however, most of them weren’t in the same place at the same time until the film’s premiere, but it’s always interesting to get a peek at what was going on on set.

The latest comes with this just revealed shot of Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin hanging out behind the scenes. Del Toro’s in his extravagant costume as The Collector (albeit looking a bit beaten up), while Brolin’s in a mocap suit and wielding his Infinity Gauntlet. His outfit cements how impressive Thanos was as a CGI creation, as never for a moment did I think of him as a special effect or feat of digital trickery, which is a testament not only to the hundreds of talented artists and animators, but also to Brolin’s excellent performance.

It’s curious that he’s got his own (man-sized) Infinity Gauntlet, though. A little research indicates that he asked for this to get a better handle on the character, but wasn’t allowed to wear it during every scene as it’d interfere with the mocap software. Still, it’s a hell of a neat prop and, if there’s any justice in the world, it’s currently sitting in pride of place on Brolin’s mantlepiece.

While we might not be seeing The Collector in future MCU movies, it’s a safe bet that Thanos will return in some fashion for Avengers 4. After all, with multiple sequels going into production starring characters that are technically dead, some kind of Infinity Stone-based reversal must be on the cards, right?
