Check Out Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke And Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

At some point during the past year, Robert Rodriguez's sequel to Sin City changed titles from Sin City: A Dame To Kill For to Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. That's a bit of a mouthful, and probably one that will not look so good on a theatre marquee. But it does not change a thing about the film itself, which promises to be every bit as pulpy, violent, and sexually explicit as the previous installment.

At some point during the past year, Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to Sin City changed titles from Sin City: A Dame To Kill For to Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. That’s a bit of a mouthful, and probably one that will not look so good on a theatre marquee. But it does not change a thing about the film itself, which promises to be every bit as pulpy, violent and sexually explicit as the previous installment.

Today we get our first look at some of the major stars of Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, courtesy of E.. Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke return to reprise their impressive roles from the last film, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins the cast as Johnny. Based on these images, the sequel seems to offer more of the same, although there are claims that Alba’s character Nancy will go from being the somewhat naive pole-dancer of the last film to a more profound badass. More specifically, Rodriguez says that Nancy will go from a little girl to an “avenging angel,” and Miller chimes in that she’s tired of being treated “like a piece of ass.”

So, Alba might be tougher in the film, but the images do little to showcase that. While Gordon-Levitt and Rourke pose like the badasses they assuredly are, Alba straddles a bar counter in her lingerie. I might not expect the sequel to Sin City to be an example of equality, but it would have been nice to see Alba being a bit more kickass than that.

You can check out the new images from EW (via The Playlist) below and let us know what you think about them in the comments. Is this Dame really going to be worth killing for?

Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will finally come to cinemas on August 22.
