New Avengers: Endgame TV Spot Hypes It Up As The Film Of The Summer

This new TV spot for Avengers: Endgame says that the summer begins once the film is released, and has a generally cheerier tone than other trailers.

Many of the Avengers: Endgame trailers, promos and TV spots have been – to put it lightly – a downer. The first glimpse we got of the movie was Tony Stark recording his last will and testament as he faced suffocation in outer space, and things haven’t exactly been sunshine and roses since then. This is totally understandable though, given that the characters are all grieving for their fallen comrades and inhabiting a world that seems to have lost hope. So, it’s nice to finally see a promo that’s a little more chirpy than usual.

This latest TV spot, entitled ‘This Is Our Hail Mary,’ comes with a lighter, cheerier and more optimistic tone, showcasing some of the film’s action sequences and a couple of neat one-liners. I particularly like James Rhodes ragging on Ant-Man as being ‘Regular-Sized Man,’ the characters smiling at each other and generally looking kinda optimistic. It’ll also be nice for summer blockbuster season to officially kick off, with many delights soon to follow over the next few months.

Though hype levels are at an all-time high for Endgame, the juggernaut hit a speed bump this week when five minutes of unauthorized (and spoiler-filled) footage dropped onto the internet, apparently from a London press screening. This has resulted in a rash of spoilers appearing across social media, with many fans swearing off Twitter and Facebook until they’ve seen the movie themselves. Given how unexpected the conclusion of Infinity War turned out to be, I want to be sure that whatever happens in Avengers: Endgame stays a secret right up until the opening titles begin for me.

Let’s hope that once that review embargo lifts, critics can be relied upon not to dish out unnecessary spoilers about who dies, how they beat Thanos and where the MCU ends up. Whatever happens though, it’s going to be a really interesting week, that’s for sure.
