Has Chiwetel Ejiofor Been Cast In Star Wars: Episode VII?

A very short time ago, in the galaxy we all live in, praise was being heaped upon Chiwetel Ejiofor for his performance in 12 Years A Slave. It's no secret that the actor's breakout role would lead to bigger and better offers and now it looks as if his work in Steve McQueen's film is paying dividends that may include a lightsaber and/or an X-wing. That's right, Chiwetel Ejiofor might be the first actor to be cast in Star Wars: Episode VII.

A very short time ago, in the galaxy we all live in, praise was being heaped upon Chiwetel Ejiofor for his performance in 12 Years A Slave. It’s no secret that the actor’s breakout role would lead to bigger and better offers and now it looks as if his work in Steve McQueen’s film is paying dividends that could include a lightsaber and/or an X-wing. That’s right, Chiwetel Ejiofor may be the first actor to be cast in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Ejiofor is one of the many names that has been rumored for a role in the film, but now Jedi News are reporting that he has indeed been cast. While this isn’t an official announcement from the studio or anyone involved in the production, Jedi News are usually pretty solid on their Star Wars rumors, and they say more details will be coming our way tomorrow.

Though we don’t have any details on who he’ll be playing, this is still huge news simply because everyone’s been waiting for a casting announcement ever since Star Wars: Episode VII was revealed. With production set to kick off soon, it also makes sense that a fair bit of the cast may have been selected already.

Ejiofor’s involvement is also big news because of how talented an actor he is. His performance in 12 Years A Slave speaks for itself, but sci-fi fans may be more familiar with his work in Serenity and Children Of Men. Those films are certainly highlights in the genre, so you won’t hear any complaints from me about Ejiofor’s joining the Star Wars franchise.

Again, more news about this is said to be available tomorrow, so be sure to check back then as we’ll be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, head on down to the comments section to share your thoughts on Chiwetel Ejiofor joining Star Wars: Episode VII.
