With a sequel already in the works, there’s good reason to be excited for Sony Pictures’ The Equalizer. Starring Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz, the film is apparently testing extremely well and with its September 26th release date quickly approaching, the studio is starting to push the marketing machine into gear.

Today, we have two new images from the film to feast our eyes on. The first, seen above, shows off Moretz (sporting red hair) and Washington taking a nighttime stroll. The second, at the bottom of this article, has Washington standing in the pouring rain and looking all badass with a gun in his hand. Presumably, he’s just killed someone.

Based off the 1980s TV series of the same name, The Equalizer will see Washington starring as a former covert-ops agent who chooses to dedicate his life to helping others. The actors describes it as the following:

“It’s a classic story, the innocent girl and the guy coming in to save the day and kick some butt,” Washington tells USA Today.  “You’ll get some popcorn and escape for a couple of hours.”

Though it sounds like just another typical Denzel Washington-led action movie, there’s nothing wrong with that. As good as he is in films like Flight, I still think that action is what Denzel does best. Seeing as The Equalizer will re-team him with his Training Day director, Antoine Fuqua, I’m pretty confident that we’ll see another gritty and raw thriller, especially since the film has an R rating attached to it.

The Equalizer shoots its way into theatres on September 26th and will co-star Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas and Haley Bennett.
