Chloe Moretz and Haley Bennett are the top two candidates to take the lead role in the upcoming remake of the classic horror film Carrie. Vulture is reporting that the two young actresses have read for the role and though they are competing against Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning, Bella Heathcote, and Lily Collins, they have emerged as the two frontrunners.
Moretz is more experienced and well-known than Bennett but I wouldn’t count the relative newcomer out just yet. The studio may opt to go for the cheaper actress, which would put Moretz out of the running. They also may choose to go with an unknown name, which Bennett more or less is.
Personally, my vote is for Moretz. Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with Bennett but I’m a huge fan of Moretz. At the young age of fifteen she’s already shown that she’s one of the most talented young actresses working in Hollywood. She’s given some excellent performances recently (Hugo, Kick-Ass, Let Me In) and I’m constantly impressed by her work.
What about you? Who do you want to see in the role?
