We have less than a month to go until the release of Avengers: Endgame, and yet the project still feels heavily shrouded in mystery. But if you find it frustrating that Marvel Studios has remained so stingy with their footage and plot details, just bear in mind that not even the cast has been allowed to see the film in full.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Chris Evans was jokingly asked to explain what happens at the end of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, and as it turns out, the star hasn’t actually made it that far into the movie:
“I wish I could. Uh, it’s — I mean — it’s a good one. It’s a real good one. I saw, like, the first hour of it.”
“Man. This one’s really good. I choked up like three times.”
If recent reports of a 3-hour-plus runtime have it right, then Evans has watched roughly the first third of his own film. Clearly Marvel is taking no chances with their spoiler security measures, though for what its worth, the movie’s test audiences seemed to like what they saw.
In a recent interview with Empire, Scarlett Johansson mentioned that she too had watched parts of Endgame. Going by what she’d seen, the Black Widow actress said that directors Anthony and Joe Russo are delivering “a poetic and beautiful Valentine to a decade of madness,” which sounds like the just the sort of film that fans have been hoping for.
So far, the footage released from Avengers: Endgame adds up to roughly 5 minutes, but we can see the work in full when the pic hits theaters on April 26th. In the meantime, look out for those advance tickets, which are reportedly going on sale this coming Tuesday.
