Chris Evans Says That Avengers 4 Will Not Disappoint

Avengers 4 has a lot of hype to live up to, with even the film’s official title being the subject of much discussion and high levels of anticipation. As the culmination of 22 movies and 11 years of superhero storytelling, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel stands as arguably the biggest blockbuster event in a year where Disney also has plans to finish off a Star Wars trilogy. That’s a lot of pressure to put on one feature, but actor Chris Evans assures us that we won’t be disappointed.

Evans appeared alongside MCU co-stars Karen Gillan and Lee Pace at ACE Comic Con, where he made a spoiler-free case for why we should trust Marvel Studios to get this flick right.

“There’s just nothing that I can say but there’s so much good stuff…there’s so many good things,” Evans said. “I mean, I guess all I can say is if Marvel has proven anything it’s just that they know what they’re doing. They know what they’re doing. I don’t think they’ve missed a beat. Their worse mistakes are other studios’ like biggest blessings you know what I mean? Like, they don’t miss, they don’t miss, and they have not missed with this one and it really is just an incredible culmination of this unbelievable tapestry of…I mean, how many individual series is it? Is it like, what six, seven individual parts coming together.”

“It’s never been done before and I don’t know if it will ever be done again and they really stick a flag in the ground on this one and pull out all the stops and you won’t be disappointed.”

Just over a week ago, Evans got fans all emotional when he tweeted a message that seemed to imply he was now done playing Captain America, saying he was “Eternally grateful” for the memories he had collected in these past eight years. At the ACE event, however, the actor downplayed the idea that his tweet hinted at his departure, saying that he’d simply had an emotional day and was feeling sentimental about the MCU’s Phase 3 coming to a close.

Indeed, regardless of whether or not Steve Rogers has a place in the franchise’s future, Avengers 4 is set to bring some big changes to the cinematic universe while likely wrapping up the character arcs of many a Marvel regular. We’ll see who’s left to carry the torch forward when the film hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
