Chris Hemsworth’s More Hilarious Than Ever In Thor: Love And Thunder Says Karen Gillan

After the missteps of Thor: The Dark World, 2017's Thor: Ragnarok gave the God of Thunder's franchise a much-needed shot in the arm, delivering not just the best Thor movie but one of the most beloved entries in the whole MCU. Writer/director Taika Waititi has set himself a high benchmark to top in his next Marvel outing, Thor: Love and Thunder, but one of the cast seems to think that Thor 4 beats the third film.

Writer/director Taika Waititi has set himself a high bar to clear in his next Marvel outing, Thor: Love and Thunder, but one of the cast seems to think that Thor 4 manages to top the third film.

Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Karen Gillan will be reprising her role as Nebula in Love and Thunder. While chatting with Collider to promote her new movie, Gunpowder Milkshake, the Avengers: Endgame actress called LAT a “a hell of a ride” and promised that Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian is “even more hilarious” than we’ve ever seen him before.

β€œMy reaction reading the script was excitement,” Gillan said. “It was like this is gonna be a hell of a ride. It’s Taika at his best and his most Taika. The Guardians in it I think are just hilarious, and also Thor is even more hilarious than he was the last time.”

It’s weird to revisit Hemsworth’s first few Thor appearances these days, where he played him much more straight-laced, as Waititi completely retooled the character for Ragnarok, giving the hero much more naturalistic dialogue and allowing Hemsworth a lot more freedom to improvise and loosen up. This was then carried over by the Russos into Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. But despite the laughs he delivered in those movies, Gillan seems confident Love and Thunder will see the Australian actor deliver his funniest performance yet.

Gillan will appear in the film alongside all her fellow Guardians, excepting Zoe Saldana as the MIA Gamora, that is. We probably shouldn’t expect Chris Pratt and co. to have a huge amount of screentime, though, given the stacked ensemble cast that Waititi managed to put together for Thor 4. Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale are all in leading roles, with Russell Crowe, Sam Neill, Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy and many more cameoing.

Taika Waititi has previously called Thor: Love and Thunder the “craziest” movie he’s ever made, so Gillan wasn’t joking. It looks like Marvel fans are in for a wild time when it hits theaters next May.
