In what sounds like the setup for a cheesy rom-com, Chris Pratt recently decided to pop the question to his partner Katherine Schwarzenegger, but first he had to get the permission of her action star dad. As you’d imagine, the situation had the Guardians of the Galaxy actor feeling just a little nervous.
Speaking to ExtraTV, Pratt discussed his recent engagement to the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was publicly announced last month. As a man who appreciates tradition, Pratt apparently thought it best to ask for the father’s approval, and seeing how the father in this case is both the former governor of California and the goddam Terminator, it was only natural that Pratt was feeling somewhat tense about the occasion, recalling his experience as follows:
“Well, you know, I think any person who appreciates a tradition and asks a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage…it’s inevitably going to be something that makes you a little nervous, but that’s sort of the beauty of it, you know?”
It seems that Pratt has managed to find a very sweet way to characterize his nerves, and evidently, the star of Tim Miller’s upcoming Terminator reboot has welcomed him into their family.
In any case, 2019 looks to be another busy year for Pratt, with the actor currently in the midst of promoting The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. After that, the star can be seen opposite Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio in upcoming western The Kid, and is also widely believed to be making an appearance in Avengers: Endgame, despite Marvel Studios’ efforts to keep his involvement under wraps.
At the same time, the firing of James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 seems to have scrapped plans for shooting on the threequel to begin this year, but for what it’s worth, Pratt himself said earlier this week that he’s read the script and it’s “off the chain.” Stay tuned for updates on that project, but in the meantime, Chris Pratt’s future father-in-law will be back on our screens when The Terminator hits theaters on November 1st, 2019.
