Previously titled The 13 Women Of Nanjing, we now have a trailer for the film The Flowers Of War. Its biggest selling point is probably star Christian Bale but personally, I see quite a bit to look forward to with this one.

Zhang Yimou‘s new film will be the most expensive Chinese film ever produced, featuring scenes in both Mandarin and English and it will tell the true story of “a group of people who take refuge inside a cathedral as the invading Japanese Imperial Army takes over Nanking in 1937.”

From the looks of the trailer, I can see why this is China’s entry for Best Foreign Picture. It looks really good and from what we can see in the brief couple minutes of footage, it seems as if the budget went to good use.

I really enjoyed Hero and House Of Flying Daggers (both from Yimou) so I have high hopes for this one. The film opens in China on December 16th but has yet to find a US distributor.

Check out the trailer below.
