Christopher Nolan Talks Justice League & Man Of Steel

Christopher Nolan is the golden boy of 21st century cinema, what with his super-gritty take on the Batman mythology, that rotating corridor movie he did with Leonardo DiCaprio, and the fact that CGI addict Zack Synder is currently working on Superman flick Man Of Steel as a sort of tribute to everything Nolanness. Or so we thought.

Christopher Nolan is the golden boy of 21st century cinema, what with his super-gritty take on the Batman mythology, that rotating corridor movie he did with Leonardo DiCaprio, and the fact that CGI addict Zack Synder is currently working on Superman flick Man Of Steel as a sort of tribute to everything Nolan. Or so we thought.

Speaking out this week, Nolan was keen to remind everyone that not everybody can be just as good as he is – that would be asking way too much of regular directors:

“I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman. It’s very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he’s done. I think it’s really remarkable to take on that character. Zack has built on that and I think it’s incredible what he’s putting together. He’s got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack’s doing.”

Oh, it’s Zack’s film? Expect, then, something completely unrealistic and entirely ungrounded in real world aesthetics. As for the always-discussed-but-never-officially-talked-about Justice League movies, Nolan expertly dodged questions as to whether or not he’d be overseeing the DC comic book movie world as a sort of Joss Whedon type character. “Well, I’m producing Superman now and I’m enjoying time off and taking a break,” he said, blatantly avoiding the question in its entirety (not even revealing where exactly he’s talking time off so we can stalk him – what a gyp).

That’s about it for things that Christopher Nolan has said this week. You loved it, though, didn’t you? You love Nolan and everything about him. Yeaaah, you do. Say it. Go on. Yeeeah. Feels good, huh? You’re one of the guys now. Congrats.
