Chucky Arrives In Three New Child’s Play Photos

We're now less than three weeks away from Chucky's playtime, and to celebrate, we'e got three new images teasing the return of the killer doll in the upcoming Child's Play remake. The marketing for the horror reboot has deliberately held back on showing us too much of Chucky in action, and these photos follow suit by only featuring the murderous piece of merchandise in his packaging and from behind.

Seen in the gallery down below, the first image captures the moment when Karen Barclay (Aubrey Plaza) presents the brand new Buddi doll to her son, Andy (Gabriel Bateman). We’ve been told that Andy, a shy kid who struggles to make friends, will form a close bond with Chucky at first, as can be seen in the second snap which sees the boy smiling at his new best friend. Finally, the last pic showcases Andy meeting with Detective Mike Norris (Brian Tyree Henry).

As well as the trio of lead actors shown in these images, Child’s Play also features the legend that is Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. Hamill’s interpretation will be very different from the classic character played by Brad Dourif, though.

Firstly, there’s the obvious alteration that the doll is now a state-of-the-art Alexa-alike A.I. instead of an ordinary toy possessed by a serial killer. More than that, though, director Lars Klevberg has promised that Chucky will be something of a sympathetic and even tragic figure in the remake.

Though fans had mixed reactions to the idea of a reboot at first, the marketing for Child’s Play has really managed to turn opinion around, particularly all those tongue-in-cheek posters that depict Chucky killing off the cast of Toy Story 4, with which it shares a release date. As of now, folks seem to be pretty optimistic about the pic, but you can decide for yourself which living dolls you’re going to spend your time with when the movies arrive in theaters on June 21st.
