Cinemaholics #70: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Review

Special guest Jake Holland joins the Cinemaholics for an episode of prehistoric proportions as we review Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the latest film in the Jurassic Park franchise. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are back for another nature vs. nurture adventure with all the dinosaurs CGI can muster, but critics are a bit divided this time around. And the Cinemaholics might be, too.

Before we dive into our featured review, though, Jon and Will talk a whole bunch of movie news, starting with the insane Incredibles 2 box office numbers taking pundits by storm, plus how lackluster numbers for Solo: A Star Wars Story have reportedly led to Disney and Lucasfilm putting other standalone Star Wars spinoffs on hold for now. We also try to unpack the insanity behind the Gotti marketing campaign, which is pitting film critics, audiences, MoviePass and Rotten Tomatoes against each other in one of the weirdest public opinion fights we’ve seen in quite a while.

After we review Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jon and Will jump into Mini Reviews. First, there’s the brand new season of Luke Cage on Netflix to get into, which Jon has already seen and reviewed. Will finally checked out Thoroughbreds as well, and Jon shares the details on a new Netflix romantic comedy that’s actually pretty charming – Set It Up.
